How to Install Aftermarket Car seats
In upgrading your car or any vehicle, car seat is one of the most common concerns. If you are exchanging your car’s factory seat for aftermarket seat, comfort should be your first priority.
Aftermarket car seats are widely available in the market. Factors are to be considered before buying to achieve the best comfort from your new car seats. You need to consider your budget and the brand of car seats which you can access through magazines and the internet. Choose an aftermarket car seat specifically designed to fit your car’s dimension. Consider as well the safety features by inspecting the seats. You can sit on the car seat if possible to check the comfort and ergonomic design. The seat should allow a comfortable position with minimize muscular exertion. Then, check how the seat will look in your car.
Once the aftermarket car seat is bought, you will now deal on installing it in your car. Get some tools like socket wrench, socket set and the aftermarket car seat then follow these instructions to help you install your new aftermarket car seat.
Remove the old seat:
Locate the four bolts holding the driver’s seat to the floorboard. Then, slide the seat all the way forward to have an easy access to the back bolts. Get your socket wrench and unscrew the bolts, then set them aside. Slide the seat back to get access on the front bolts located at the front corners of the seat and do the same with the back bolts. Tilt the seat forward until the head of the seat is resting against the steering wheel. Disconnect wiring and harnesses attached to the seat. Disconnect this by separating the tabs and pulling them apart. Take note how these wiring harnesses are attached to the seat so it would be easy for you to attach it later in your aftermarket seat. Now, pull the seat out of the car or vehicle.
Install the new seat:
Place the new aftermarket car seat in your vehicle. Tilt it forward to attach the wirings. Make sure that the seat is properly lined up to the bolt holes in the floorboard. It should be positioned all the way forward before starting the bolts at the back. Both bolts should be started before tightening them using the socket wrench. Then, slide the seat all the way to the back and start the front bolts then tighten with a socket wrench. Move the seat back and forth to ensure it is properly fit in. Test as well the power seat controls for proper functions.
